One Sentence That Changed Everything I Knew About Advisory-CAS Value

Today, I am sharing something that has been a long time in the making.

This book didn’t begin as a publishing goal. It began with a moment many CAS professionals will recognize.

I was at a CPA's office, and he invited me to a client meeting (with the client's permission). After some time, the client told the CPA:

“I didn’t know you could do this kind of work.”

The client said this after months of advisory conversations. The client was reviewing te dashboards the CPA had painstakingly customized for the client. The CPA was always discussing multiple scenarios to help client make better decisions. And the CPA did indeed influence client's decisions.

The work was real.

The impact was real.

But, I sensed that the value hadn’t fully landed.

Not because the CPA's work lacked substance, but because it hadn’t been clearly framed, structured, or named.

That moment stayed with me. And it eventually became the first page of this book.

Why this book exists

Client Advisory Services (CAS) is everywhere today.

You hear it at conferences. You see it on firm websites. You discuss it with peers.

And yet, many professionals quietly ask the same questions:

  • What does Advisory-CAS really mean in our firm’s day-to-day work?

  • Are we already doing Advisory-CAS without recognizing it?

  • Why does the value feel obvious to us, but hard to explain, price, or scale?

This book was written for that in-between space:

  • for accounting professionals who are already influencing client decisions but haven’t yet turned that impact into a transparent, visible, and sustainable Advisory-CAS practice.

  • for firms that sense they are doing more than compliance, but struggle to articulate what that “more” actually is.

What “cracking the Advisory-CAS code” really means

This is not a book of buzzwords or big promises.

It’s a practical guide to:

  • Understanding what “advice” truly means in a Advisory-CAS context

  • Closing the gap between advisory effort and advisory fees

  • Moving from accidental advisory to structured value

  • Building trust, relevance, and confidence, internally and with clients

The book introduces the True Advisor® Framework, a practical way to assess where your firm stands today and design what comes next, across positioning, delivery, pricing, technology, and team readiness.

Because Advisory-CAS success is more than adding another service, it is about changing how you show up in ways that the clients truly recognize.

Turning insight into action

While writing this book, one thing became very clear.

Clarity alone isn’t enough.

- Hitendra Patil

CAS professionals struggle, not with ideas, but they struggle to make/influence clients to activate their advice.

Firms more or less understand advisory in theory, but translating that understanding into daily behavior, team conversations, client language, and repeatable workflows is where advisory momentum often slows down.

That’s why this book was designed to be used, not just read.

And it’s why the launch includes a set of practical bonus tools, not as extras, but as extensions of the thinking in the book.

These resources are meant to help you:

  • Apply each chapter’s insight in real situations

  • Reduce guesswork when designing or refining your CAS approach

  • Move from conceptual clarity to confident execution

Included with the book:

  • The simple, repeatable, effective True Advisor® Framework to ensure your advice is valuable and practical every single time

  • A Bonus Chapter for deeper context

  • Chapter-wise checklists to guide implementation

  • An Ideal Customer Persona (ICP) Workbook Template

  • An ICP Scoring Guide to qualify advisory-ready clients

  • An Example ICP of a Strategic CAS Firm

  • The (limited time, limited slots) option to book a complimentary call with me to clarify your CAS direction

Use them selectively, sequentially, or use just one, if that’s what helps you move forward.

The goal is simple: to make sure the ideas in this book show up in how you lead, communicate, and deliver advisory-CAS work.

Ready to go deeper?

If this reflects conversations you are already having with clients, if you sense that your advisory value runs deeper than how it’s currently perceived, if you are ready to turn intent into structure, then the next step is simple.

Read the book. And implement it. It's easier than you might think.

  • Clearly define what Advisory-CAS means in your firm

  • Close the gap between advisory effort and advisory fees

  • Build a structured, repeatable Advisory-CAS approach that clients recognize and value

This is truly about finally naming and claiming the value you already create.

Every firm has its own Advisory-CAS story. This book is meant to help you write yours.

The Advisory-CAS code has been there all along. It isn’t hidden. It’s simply waiting to be cracked.
